Emeryville After Hours

Missing Bucci’s at Lunchtime? Maybe Not Any More. 612one Opened its Doors in Emeryville!

Welcome to 612one Fusion Culinary & Fine Cocktails. The brick interior and high industrial ceilings are the same as in the long run of Bucci’s, but the look is now a polished modernism with metal tables and a sleek bar. The kitchen has been reconfigured so the dining room space seems a lot more airy and can seat more guests.

But what is really different is the soft opening menu. It’s a fun take on Asian Fusion, as both owners come from Thai restaurant backgrounds. For example, their Wasabi Calamari is lightly breaded calamari rings with an aioli-wasabi type dipping sauce. Crisp Roasted Pork Belly is served with tamarind curry and French baguettes. A great place after work for appetizers!

And the focal point is the beautiful bar. It makes you want to have a cocktail party with your friends there. Besides six beers on tap, bottle beer and wine, 612one offers up some great cocktails. There’s the Dirty Hollis made with The Real McCoy Aged Rum, coffee liqueur and lime or the 612one Negroni with St. George Botanivore Gin, St. George Bruto Americano and Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth. Spicing things up is  the T-Mex made with Hornitos Resposado Tequila, Tamarind and Paprika.

More choices with the Bar Menu. Hot Honey Wings – crispy chicken wings caramelized with organic honey and Sriracha (hot chili) sauce, Basa Fish and Chips with Cajun French Fries and 612one Dynamite – the  Dynamite is fresh shrimp and salmon topped with spicy miso soy, chili, garlic, lime and coriander.

The lunch menu  has a Grilled Chicken Burger and a Spicy Linguine Pasta with salmon, garlic, asparagus, mushrooms and basil. A Grilled Prawn Salad with spicy chili lime can be paired with their Rib Eye steak on the dinner menu. According to patrons, the Spicy Pasta Basil is a hit – Stir-fried linguini pasta and jumbo prawns with chili, garlic, asparagus, mushrooms and sweet basil. All very creative combinations of fresh food. Since they are still in their ‘soft opening’ phase, you can let the proprietors, Rawitpan Ussawagasemjit (Ohm) and Gary Srisawat (Chef), know your favorites. Their hours are easy to remember: 11am-10pm Mon. – Sat. (510) 285-6854

A dozen artists from the 45th Street Artists’ Cooperative, who contributed work to the first exhibition in 1987, will show new work this year – including painters Edythe Bresnahan and M. Louise Stanley, textile artist Ana Lisa Hedstrom, photographer Kim Harrington and directors and co-founders of Kala Art Institute Archana Horsting and Yuzo Nakano. Emeryville Art Exhibition Turns 30!

Painting the town for its 30th year, the 30th-logoEmeryville Art Exhibition will run from Sat., Oct. 8 through Sun., Oct. 30, from 11am-6pm daily at 1550 Park Ave. in Emeryville. Opening Night is Fri., Oct. 7, from 6 – 9pm, with live music by The doRiaN Mode: Vintage Jazz & Blues. A no-host bar will raise funds for the Emeryville Youth Art Program.
The East Bay enclave of Emeryville is well known for its diverse arts community and this juried exhibition serves as the city’s annual celebration of its thriving collective creativity, expressing the talents of those individuals who live or work here.

Troy Ziel has two pieces in the exhibit from his work Storm Over the Fair – inspired at the Marin Fairgrounds on an unusually warm night with amazing storm clouds. He says he is a landscape photographer but enjoys the rare moments when people, environment and weather come together, as it did that night in Marin.

You’re Spotted! Only at the Fairgrounds… Troy Ziel

Flying Around Yoyo and You’re Spotted spark the nostalgia of the fair as well as the child in all of us. This year will be my 10th year participating in the Emeryville Art Show since I moved here from San Francisco in 2006,” explains ZIel. “Our little city packs a huge punch when it comes to conceptual local art. I wanted to be a part of it right from the beginning because creative expression is important as it can inspire conversation or awaken creativity in others.

“I also enjoy the fact that the art exhibit is juried, ensuring the quality of artwork which is very eclectic and varied. Even as a participant in the show, every year I am in awe of the work that is produced by the local community. It’s wonderful to just be a part of it and the gallery experience we create together every year.”

Emeryville Art Exhibition is open to artists of all media and includes paintings, sculpture, photographs, ceramics, textiles, and glass works. Now in its milestone 30th year, the exhibition continues to uncover emerging talent, along with new

About the Ramen (from Shiba Ramen website)

Ramen the way it’s supposed be. Easy. Casual. Delicious.

In Japan, ramen is comfort food.  It’s what you eat when you’re looking for a completely satisfying, but casual experience.  You pay in advance, so when you’re finished, you get up and leave.  You don’t break the bank, it isn’t a production, and it tastes great.

Shiba Ramen believes in the Japanese ramen experience.  We offer a streamlined, ramen-focused menu, complemented by a handful of tasty sides.  Cold beer is on tap, as it should be.  We feature rotating draft Bay Area craft beers, and a curated collection of Japanese craft beer and sake.

Come visit us in Emeryville Public Market.  We’re part of an exciting redevelopment project that’s in the process of putting nearly twenty diverse, international food concepts under a single roof, creating a dining center of gravity at the commercial intersection of Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco.
