Marina & Harbor News
Welcome From Council Member Kurt Brinkman
Hello and welcome to autumn in Emeryville on the Bay. Live here or thinking of visiting? Besides being only ten minutes away from San Francisco, host city of the 2013 America’s Cup, Emeryville has 2 marinas, 850 slips, 4 major hotels, over 80 fine dining restaurants, bakeries & cafes and lots of shopping – worldwide and boutique brands. Plus, there are unlimited ways to play here – from windsurfing, sailing and kayaking to hiking the Bay Trail & strolling the Emeryville ArtWalk.
Fall is one of my favorite times of year in Emeryville. I like walking around town and down through the marinas in the crisp air and feeling fortunate to live here. It’s now time to check out the City of Emeryville’s Fall 2014 Activity Guide and sign up for those classes you have been thinking about, be it Yoga, dance lessons or the fitness group with health coach Charlandra Savage who run, walk and jog down at the Marina Park on Wed. at 7pm. You can download the Activity Guide from the City’s website or pick up a copy at City Hall or the Senior Center.
Situated on the San Francisco Bay, Emeryville residents and employees are lucky to have access to all the beauty and water sports along our coastline. Please join us on Sat., Sept 20 is for the Annual International Coastal Clean Up Day in Emeryville. We will meet at 9am next to the Fire Station at 2333 Powell St., across from the Watergate Market. Volunteers are treated to free refreshments, raffle prizes and chair massage from local Emeryville businesses. Bring your own re-usable water bottle, coffee cup, collection bag or bucket, garden/protective gloves and garden digging-claw.
See you at the Coastal Cleanup or around town.

PS You can catch up with me on Opening Night of the Emeryville Art Exhibition on Oct. 10 from 6-9pm, as I will be heading up the no-host bar to raise funds for the Emeryville Youth Art Program, which has been bringing artists into the Emery Unified School District now for three decades.
