Smaller boats (but still lightening-fast foilers), only 7-9 crew, more common design elements, only four challengers from the World Series (ACWS) races in 2015-16 face off in SF during the Louis Vuitton and other ideas to cut costs and increase participation. Read more from Russell Coutts, Oracle TEAM USA member and AC’s most successful skipper, in the New Zealand Herald.

We are still sailing at 2:15pm! USA takes Race 17.

Score is now New Zealand  – 8 and USA  – 7. With an unfortunate start for the Kiwis  – a small collision and a two-boat length penalty – TEAM USA had the lead around Mark 1 and kept it until the finish. Race 18 seems to be a go at 2:15pm. ETNZ still has their provisional card and can cancel the race today but did not. They are geared up to win Race 18 and the America’s Cup. Stay tuned.

America’s Cup Race Committee Postpones Race 14

It all seems to be in the hands of Mother Nature. Winds too strong. Winds too light. And Sat., Sept. 21 – winds coming from the wrong direction. With fans hoping for Race 14 to be allowed as the skies cleared,  the winds still were not right as the clock crept up to the 2:40pm time limit. Bound by the rules, the race committee postponed the race until Sun., Sept. 22. Sunday is projected to be a great (normal) day for sailing and conditions should allow for two races should ORACLE win the first race Sunday. If ETNZ wins the first race – that will be it and they will take home the America’s Cup trophy. See you at the start at 1:15pm. Stay tuned!  Details here.
