The Experience, Emeryville: Annual Art Exhibition Opening Night @ Public Market

The Experience:

Be Seen at the Art Scene + Meet the Artists!

You are invited to Opening Night of Emeryville’s 38th Annual Art Exhibition Friday, October 4, 6-9pm at the southern part of Public Market Emeryville, 5905 Shellmound St. This juried exhibition produced by Celebration of the Arts, features more than 200 artworks created by 154 Emeryville artists. On opening night you get to meet the artists and get a first look at their artwork as you listen to music by The doRiaN Mode: Vintage Jazz & Blues. A no-host bar raises funds for the Emeryville Youth Art Program. It’s always an electrifying opening night as the community celebrates the city’s thriving collective creativity..

Celebrating Emeryville’s vibrant arts community, the Annual Art Exhibition showcases the depth of talent and diverse artistic expression of both emerging and established artists that live or work in Emeryville. Selected as one of California’s fourteen state-designated Cultural Districts, Emeryville represents an innovative enclave devoted to art and creative production. The exhibition is an important example of community cooperation engaging artists, businesses, community members and city government and continues to serve as the annual celebration of this collective creativity.

“Emeryville claims only a very small, albeit beautiful, slice of the Bay but its creative community continues to grow as evidenced by this year’s enormous show with many new voices and visions,” said Sharon Wilchar, exhibition coordinator. “And our city’s artistic roots run deep as established artists who have lived here for years, decades, look forward to their part each fall in the annual celebration. Several of note this year after time away are photographer Richard Misrach, mixed-media and installation artist Robert Ortbal, and jeweler Bassem Elias. It is so exciting for me to see their new work alongside emerging artists that are submitting work for the first time.”

The exhibition is open October 5 – 27, 2024, from 11am to 6 pm, Wednesdays through Sundays at Public Market Emeryville, located at 5905 Shellmound Street, Emeryville, CA.  For details, directions, and Emery-go-round stop information, log onto www.emeryarts.org.

Celebration of the Arts

The Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition is sponsored by Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, Inc.
