The Experience, Richmond: East Brother Beer Co Weekend

The Experience: Fun in the sun with a pint in your hand! Grab your friends and head down to East Brother’s taproom and find a table outside to relax and have some tasty bites with their award-winning Bohemian  Pilsner aka Bo Pils: It’s light, crisp and refreshing! This golden delight is a nod to the classic Czech Pilsner – crisp, clean, with a subtle hint of hops. The good news: it’s surprisingly light on calories! With an ABV (alcohol by volume) of just 5%, it's a perfect choice for those who want to enjoy a beer without overindulging. The Bo Pils is like that friend who always knows how to have a good time but never gets too wild – reliable and always a pleasure to hang out with. Alameda Trail Guide Featured Art – Marie Massey

Cover art: The Red Umbrella 12”x12”, oil on hardboard. Private collection. “As an avid plein air painter for 23 years, I find water fascinating and fun to paint. I love the transparency, the reflective quality, and the movement of water. Alameda is a town rich with inspiration for the plein air painter and I was inspired by this lagoon-side home. It was great fun to paint with its distinctive architecture, bright garden with a stately King Palm, and its brilliant red umbrella reflecting in the waters of the Grand Street Lagoon.” –Marie Massey, winner of the Frank Bette Center for the Arts 2021 PAPO Award

The Experience, Emeryville: Trader Vic’s Tiki Lounge

The Experience: Kick back on the water! At the end of your long  day, head down to the Bay and the lounge at Trader Vic’s for drinks and a taste of the world!  You will be transformed by the tiki madness and soothed by the views of the boats in the marina and beyond.  Decades ahead of his time, Vic ‘The Trader’ Bergeron chose to offer Chinese dishes alongside the then-contemporary Continental cuisine, creating maybe the original fusion menu. Today, Trader Vic's continues the tradition and still uses the Chinese Wood-fired Ovens featuring dishes from the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Asia, and Japan. And, as we all know, Trader Vic’s claims to be home to the original Mai Tai. Here's what’s on the lounge menu: Tidbits & Pupus Cosmo Tidbits – Trader Vic’s original pupu platter.A sampling of crispy prawns, char siu pork, crab rangoon & BBQ ribs for two (featured here) BBQ Spare Ribs – Sugar cured & dipped in our signature BBQ glaze. Slow cooked to perfection

The Experience, Richmond: Maya Taqueria Tacos

The Experience: Tacos or Burritos?! Tough decision. But when you walk in, their friendly staff will help you decide. Maya is known for its carne asada tacos, featured here, but everything is delicious and extremely flavorful. Fans also rave about their chicken, pastor, shrimp and fish tacos. They do not disappoint.  If you like slaw and crema on your fish tacos, this is the place. Tiny as it is, efficiency and quality is big.  On the other side of the menu are the burritos. Top of the list are the butternut squash burrito and carnitas burrito. Some regulars favor the pollo burritos. Maya chicken salad is always a big hit and a great option when you want to eat lighter. Vegetarians have options - veggie tacos, butternut squash burritos and more! Try the tortas and you won’t regret it
