Iain Murray, Regatta Director for the 34th America’s Cup in 2013, informs about the Challenger Selection Series and discusses the draft design protocol for the upcoming 2015-2017 America’s Cup series of races in an interview with Sail-World. A few notable points according to Murray:
1. The World Series will be raced in the AC45s, and most likely with limited foiling.
2. The America’s Cup will be in AC62s.
3. Wing sails will be one design, limiting design time and allowing new teams to catch up with the technology.
The Louis Vuitton (World Series) Challenger Series may be renamed the Challenger Selection Series, as it seems LV is pulling out after disappointing advertising exposure in 2013.
