The Experience, Alameda: Almanac Beer Co. Collaboration

The Experience:

Uva Bruja Debut!

This mystical bright red brew was summoned forth in collaboration with the sorcerers at Casa Bruja Brewing in Panama City, Panama. Uva Bruja (“grape witch” in Spanish) was created by aging Cabernet Sauvignon grape juice in oak barrels for over six months. This unique brew was finished with a dash of coriander and pink Himalayan salt, imparting that classic gose-style brininess.

What is a gose-style beer? It’s a combination of two components – it must be tart, tasting fermented, and it must be salty – a hint of briny. If you have ever had a sour unfiltered beer, you have an idea of the taste. The pronunciation: “Goes-uh”.

With Uva Bruja you’ll enjoy notes of tart vinous grape and soft tannins in each ritual sip, and be sure to pair it with full moons, black ravens, and your favorite coven.

Uva Bruja is available now at Almanac’s taproom and in the online store.

Almanac’s Barrel House, Taproom and Brewery are open 7 days a week: M-Th 12-9pm; F/Sa 12-10pm; Su  12-8pm.Food trucks daily.  (415) 992-3438

The Experience, Alameda: Almanac Beer Co. New Pale Ale

The Experience:

FLOW Pale Ale Release Party + Run + Plants + Music!

Grab your friends and join Almanac Saturday, July 9th from 11:15am – 9pm for a great day of fun and beer tasting. Here’s the lineup:

  • 11:15am Run with East Bay Beer Runners
  • 12-7pm Plant Cultura Pop-up*
  • 6-9pm Big Blu Soul Revue live concert

Almanac is expanding its year-round fresh beer portfolio with a new West Coast pale ale honoring a style that put California craft beer on the map. FLOW Pale Ale (5.5% ABV) fits right into the Almanac family of fresh beers available 12 months of the year along with fan-favorites LOVE Hazy IPA, LOUD! Hazy DIPA, and TRUE Kölsch. FLOW Pale Ale takes a classic West Coast style and brews it for the modern drinker who loves to kick back a cold one (or three!) after a day of kayaking, lazy river rafting, hitting the mountain biking trails or after a run with East Bay Beer Runners!

Dry-hopped with Simcoe and El Dorado, FLOW is full of character with a super light body. “Nothing hits the spot quite like a refreshing West Coast pale ale!” says founder and ceo Damian Fagan. “As the beer style that originally captured my heart, I decided it was time to create a worthy Almanac version. It took over a year of R&D before we nailed the final recipe, but we couldn’t be more excited about the result. FLOW is all about balance. It’s got a huge hop aroma and is bursting with notes of juicy lemon, ripe melon, and fresh berries and pine. The bitterness is restrained, the finish is clean, and the body is light and crisp. FLOW is a simple beer, and it’s just plain delicious.”

The Experience, Alameda: Almanac Beer Co. + WCK for Ukraine

The Experience:

Buy Peaceful Pils & Provide Fresh Food & Hot Meals to our Ukrainian Friends!

Almanac is raising money to feed Ukrainians through World Central Kitchen. Peaceful Pilsner is a hopeful lager, brewed in solidarity with Ukrainians, and all people suffering from the impacts of war.

This Bohemian-style pilsner directly supports the work of World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit that’s first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. You can find Peaceful Pilsner at the taproom this weekend, on the webstore, and at the San Francisco Ferry Plaza Farmers Market this Saturday! Free shipping when you order any six 4-packs or more.

About WCK

Within days of the initial Russian invasion, WCK began serving meals to families traveling long distances and waiting for hours at various border crossings in Poland and then in Romania, Moldova, Hungary, and Slovakia. At the same time, urgent food needs quickly grew within Ukraine. They started working with local restaurants and bakers with their partner volunteers to provide large quantities of meals for the Ukrainians.

“It’s a universal human right to live free from hunger,” states founder & chef José Andrés. At first it seemed overwhelming. “But many complex problems have simple solutions. Sometimes you just need to decide to do something. Sometimes you just have to show up with a sandwich or some warm rice and beans. You’d be amazed at the power of a plate of food. It can change the world, and so can you.”
