The Experience, Emeryville: Bay St Emeryville New Opening

The Experience:

Discover the culinary art of Churrasco cooking!

Step into the old home of P.F. Chang’s and you will see that the open grill and fire-roasted meats are central to the new FOGO DE CHÃO experience. Fans’ favorites include Bone-In Ribeye, Lamb Chops and the house specialty, Picanha, the prime part of the top sirloin, representing the art and science of churrasco cooking.

Founded in Southern Brazil in 1979, Fogo elevates the centuries-old cooking technique of churrasco – the art of roasting high-quality cuts of meat over an open flame – into a cultural dining experience of discovery. They offer a range of menu selections and prices for lunch and dinner, giving their guests many choices.

Experience the Market Table and Feijoada Bar, a colorful palate of fresh and flavorful ingredients inspired by Brazilian farmlands and recipes that are traditional staples of Southern Brazilian cuisine. Seasonal salads and soup, fresh vegetables, imported charcuterie and more. Menu items also include lighter classic seafood dishes with a Brazillian twist.

Your meats are served up by their gaucho chefs tableside and if you are seated near the open grill, you will be amazed by the currasco cooking technique. But remember, there would be no churrasco without picanha!

Bonus: Happy Hour all day long! Guests can enjoy $10 Brazilian-inspired cocktails, $8 glasses of South American wines and $5 Beer all-day every day, in the dining room, patio and bar. The bar offers an elevated experience with a warm, timeless design and dedicated bar staff designed to allow guests to linger while enjoying smaller, shareable plates like a Picanha Burger or Shrimp Tacos.

Welcome to our Emeryville community, FOGO!  Hours: Lunch: M-F 11:30am-2:30pm. Brunch Sa/Su 11am-2pm. Dinner: M-Th 5-10pm; Fr 5-10:30pm; Sa 2:30-10:30pm;Su 2:30-9pm. 510-955-1112

The Experience, Emeryville: Tipsy Putt Fundraiser

The Experience:

Get your putters ready & take a swing at hunger!

Sip, putt, enjoy a taco and help fight hunger. Tipsy Putt, Emeryville’s popular mini golf bar & restaurant, has partnered with Move for Hunger and AVE to host a golf tournament for a good cause.

The tournament, with various levels of competition, begins at 2pm on Thursday, August 17, at Tipsy Putt at Bay St to benefit Move for Hunger, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and providing meals for those in need in our community.

Tipsy Putt will also conduct a food drive throughout the month of August, naming Move for Hunger as its Sunday FundDay recipient. For every beer and game of golf, Tipsy Putt will donate $1 to Move for Hunger during August. Sponsors are still needed for this Par-tee with a purpose fundraiser.

The Tipsy Putt bar serves up 40 taps of local craft beer including Emeryville’s own Wondrous Brewing beer, as well as tasty bites – tacos, nachos and more. Their mini golf course is challenging and great fun for groups, young ones until 5pm and 21+ after 5.  You’ll find Tipsy Putt at the north end of Bay St  across from Hyatt Place. (510) 356-8222.

Move for Hunger is a nonprofit that mobilizes delivery of  ‘rescued’ food to food banks and pantries. Their network of socially-responsible relocation companies provides their customers, clients, and residents with the opportunity to donate their food when they move.

The Experience, Oakland: Montclair Art Walk April 22-23

The Experience:

It’s an Outdoor Boutique. It’s Handcrafted. It’s an Art Alfresco Experience!

Join the villagers and artists on Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23 from 10am – 5pm. Plan your day around this sidewalk art show and have lunch in Montclair. The Art Walk celebrates art in the outdoors with more than 40 artists from the Bay Area and beyond displaying their handcrafted works in the Montclair Village nestled in the scenic backdrop of the Oakland Hills.

Connect with the artists and find a unique treasure for gifting or adding to your personal collection.

Paintings, sculptures, home & office décor, artisan bags and clothing, unique hand-crafted jewelry and more.  Presented by the Montclair Village Association, this free open air art gallery offers a chance to get to know the participating artists and learn the stories behind each piece they make.

Among the celebrated artisans participating in this year’s event is Gila Sagy of Gila Glass in Concord. Her work is a balance of function and beauty, fitting in the mainstream of contemporary design, yet singular in its direction, composition and style. Her work is inventive and one of a kind. “Nature is my greatest source of inspiration. I love plants and flowers; I love the ocean and its waves,” says Gila. “Another source of great inspiration are people. Their comments, questions and reaction to my artwork are very important to me. It’s a great privilege being able to meet art lovers and enthusiasts in person at art shows and events.”

The contemporary and unique glass designs that Gila creates use the traditional manner of fusing in a kiln. More info on her Facebook page.

The Art Walk takes place in the Montclair shopping district on Mountain Boulevard at LaSalle Avenue, off Highway 13, between Park Boulevard and Thornhill Drive. For more information, contact the Montclair Village Association at (510) 339-1000. You can also see more information here.
