Rounds: 1pm, 2pm and 3pm
Where: Richmond Recreation Complex, 3230 MacDonald Avenue in Richmond
What: Spring Classic Community Chess Tournament
Everyone is invited to this free chess tournament – all ages and playing levels. The tournament format is a Quad.
According to WCCA founder TC Ball, aka the Black Knight, “Richmond has a long history of chess.” And last year created the Main Street Community Chess Park in Downtown Richmond. “Community Chess gives the citizens a way to enjoy this incredible game. Some benefits are academic enrichment and some are civic engagement. Chess is the best metaphor for life out there.”
TC continues about are benefits to kids, “Their reading improves. Math improves. Behavior improves. Chess teaches you to concentrate on your next move. Plus, I push chess etiquette and respect. We open and end with a handshake.”
